Spring break is officially here, and you can already feel it around the neighborhood.
Kids riding bikes, walking between houses… and before you know it there are ten extra kids in your kitchen asking what’s for lunch. This is our house right now lol.
This stretch of weather makes it easy to just let the days play out. Cooler mornings, warm afternoons, and plenty of daylight to keep everyone moving.
I grew up in northern Michigan, so it still feels a little strange doing yard work in March. But that’s the spring break plan for my two middle school sons, tackling the leaves in our yard while the Florida sun is out.
Not exactly a beach trip… but it builds character.

I’ve been getting out more and networking lately, and a lot of that has been through events with the Valrico FishHawk Chamber of Commerce and the Brandon Riverview Chamber of Commerce. Nothing better than being in a room with other local business owners, meeting people face to face, and staying connected to what’s happening around the community. Between the two, there’s always something going on, from ribbon cuttings to casual meetups, and it’s been a great way to stay plugged in as the area continues to grow.

If you’ve been around here for a while, you know there are a lot of good people quietly doing meaningful work in our community. A Kitten Place is one of those.
They’re a small, volunteer run rescue taking in kittens that otherwise wouldn’t make it, especially the tiny ones that need constant care in their first days. The kind that have to be bottle fed, kept warm, and watched around the clock.
Instead of a facility, these kittens are raised inside volunteers’ homes. Fed, cared for, and socialized until they’re healthy enough to be adopted.
They also take in pregnant cats, nursing mothers, and kittens that need extra medical attention, stepping in where resources are limited.
It’s not easy work, and it’s not something most people ever see, but it’s happening right here in our community.
If you’ve ever thought about adding a cat to your family, this would be a great place to start.
